Fat, Black, and Femme is a program that focuses on exactly that: Fat, black women and the daily struggles we go through. I want this show to be a voice for those who feel unheard.

As a bisexual, polyam woman, I also want to have a focus on LGBTQ+ and polyamorous relationships in the black community. I want this to be a safe place for queer youth. I want them to find a connection with the material because I didn’t have this voice when I was their age.

I remember being bullied for being overweight, for being a tomboy, for being a lesbian (I never claimed I was, but it was a label shoved upon me). I want this show to be a reminder to queer youth that it does get better.

If you check the boxes and black, young and queer and you want to be featured on the show please reach out to me at fatblackandfemme@gmail.com.

I also would love some suggestions for the show on topics and series. I am currently looking for partners and sponsors as well.

About the Host

Bri, the host of Fat, Black, and Femme, is a recent graduate of the College at Brockport. She studied Journalism and Broadcasting with a focus on radio. Bri got her first taste of on-air at WBSU 89.1 The Point, the campus station. She spent her four years of college running in and out of the studio. The best thing was staying during breaks and getting paid to do something she loved. She’s sure that it was those moments that made her want to get in to radio.

After college, she accepted a position at iHeart Rochester. The job fit like a glove and she was able to practice exactly what she was taught at WBSU. Bri wanted to expand her horizons so she wound up accepting a position as a news producer at News 8. It’s all brand new to her and that is what makes it all so much fun.

She is originally from Buffalo, NY and you can’t tell her Buffalo doesn’t have better food…Except for the garbage plates.

When she’s not at WXIR or News 8, she enjoys watching Netflix with her partner, Joe, watching superhero movies (DC, Marvel, and other), and dreaming of ways to get a cat.

The show will premiere on May 7th, airing Tuesdays at 2PM.
