Well Deserved: Missy Elliott Becomes The First Woman In Hip-Hop To Be Inducted Into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame has announced its 2023 inductees which includes legend, trendsetter, and icon Missy Elliott.

Today the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced their 2023 class of inductees. Among those included was hip-hop icon Missy Misdemeanor Elliott. Missy becomes the first woman in hip-hop to ever receives this musical honor. Remarkably Elliott made the cut in her first year of eligibility. To even be considered artists are required to have released their first record 25 years prior to induction.

Missy reacted to the news by not focusing on her achievement but on what it means for women in the hip-hop space.

She followed up that tweet with another expressing her excitement and revealing the news brought her to tears.

The 38th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will go down on Friday, November 3rd. The event will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. If you would like to attend ticket information will be released at a later time. If you just can’t wait for tickets donors and members can get advanced tickets but the donations must be made by June 30th.
